Media Advisory: Interview Availabilities with Cancer Care Specialists

CONCORD - Cancer care professionals from throughout New England will convene on March 21 at the New Hampshire Comprehensive Cancer Collaboration's (NH CCC) annual conference to learn from both national and state experts about new accreditation standards released by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer (CoC). Those standards will address the physical, psychosocial, spiritual and financial needs of cancer survivors. Tools and resources will be provided to improve the quality of life for both survivors and their caregivers. Approximately 200 people are expected to attend.

The following NH CCC annual conference speakers will be available for media interviews from 10-10:30 a.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott's Grappone Conference Center, 70 Constitution Avenue in Concord:

Rebecca Kirch, JD
Rebecca Kirch is Director of Quality of Life & Survivorship for the National Home Office of the American Cancer Society in Washington D.C. She provides strategic direction to bridge the Society's survivorship-related research, policy, and program initiatives. Ms. Kirch also serves as a quality cancer care knowledge expert for the Society's advocacy initiatives and activities to improve quality of life and reduce suffering for patients, survivors, and caregivers

Diana Dickson-Witmer, MD, FACS
Dr. Diana Dickson-Witmer is Associate Medical Director at the Christiana Care Breast Center at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center in Newark, Delaware. She is a member of the Cancer Care Standards Development CoC Research Program and served as Vice-Chair of CoC 2012 Standards Revision Committee.

Teresa Ponn, MD, FACS
Dr. Teresa Ponn is a surgeon at the Elliot Breast Health Center in Manchester, NH. She is the New Hampshire State Chair for the CoC and has been a member of the Board of Directors for the New Hampshire Comprehensive Cancer Collaboration since 2009. Dr. Ponn currently serves as Medical Advisory Committee Chair for the NH CCC.

Nancy Kane, MS, RN, AOCN
Nancy Kane is the Program Director at the Concord Hospital Payson Center for Cancer Care in Concord, NH. She is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the NH CCC, the coalition tasked with developing and implementing the New Hampshire Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan.
