CONCORD – The American Hospital Association (AHA), in partnership with the New Hampshire Hospital Association, honored Peter Gosline, CEO of Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, with the American Hospital Association Grassroots Champion Award today (April 30).


As a 2013 Grassroots Champion, Gosline was recognized for his exceptional leadership in generating grassroots and community activity in support of his hospital’s mission.


“We depend upon strong voices like Peter Gosline to help tell the story of hospitals as cornerstones of the communities they serve,” said Rich Umbdenstock, AHA president and CEO. “This award is a small token of our appreciation for his hard work and dedication to improving health and health care in America.”


Gosline has overseen tremendous growth at Monadnock Community Hospital in his 15-year tenure, including the addition of the Bond Wellness Center, the transformation of the emergency department into the expanded and updated Sarah Hogate Bacon Emergency Services Center, the expansion of the operating room suites and a total restructuring of the hospital campus.


“Peter Gosline is an innovator and a champion for doing the right thing,” said Steve Ahnen, president of the New Hampshire Hospital Association. “As a Critical Access Hospital CEO, a former chair of the NHHA Board of trustees and a current board member, Peter practices advocacy on a regular basis.


“He has been a long-time champion of educating his own hospital board about local, state and federal issues impacting his organization,” Ahnen added. “His passion for his hospital and his community is evident by his commitment to ensure that appropriate healthcare resources are available for everyone.”


Gosline joined with his fellow 2013 honorees from throughout the nation Tuesday (April 30) at a special Breakfast of Grassroots Champions at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting in Washington, D.C.
