New Hampshire Hospital Association President Steve Ahnen to Chair Event Honoring New Hampshire’s Hospitals and Health Care Heroes
Manchester, NH: For the first time in its history, the Daniel Webster Council (DWC) is recognizing an entire industry – New Hampshire’s Hospitals and Health Care Heroes – as New Hampshire’s Distinguished Industry of the Year. New Hampshire Hospital Association (NHHA) President Steve Ahnen will serve as chair for a virtual celebration to be held on Thursday, December 2nd.
In a statement, Jay Garee, DWC Scout Executive, said, “The Scouts BSA motto is ‘Be Prepared’ and few have better embodied this ethic over the last 18 months than the hospitals and their selfless healthcare workers who have served our communities so admirably. Given their exceptional contributions made during this unprecedented time, we felt it was appropriate to acknowledge an entire industry for the first time. These institutions and their employees have worked day and night to keep us all healthy and safe, and they deserve our support and thanks.”
Steve Ahnen, NHHA President and Chair for the Distinguished Industry Event added, “The Scouts BSA have been developing exceptional leaders and inspiring Scouts to “Help Other People at All Times” for over a century. The Scouts were incredibly supportive of hospitals this year with their “Scouts Support Hospitals” initiative, and they recognize the exceptional leadership shown by New Hampshire’s Hospitals and Healthcare Heroes over the past 18 months. Accordingly, the NHHA has accepted the honor of formally presenting this award alongside the DWC. We are thrilled to be able to help honor the service, sacrifice and courage that New Hampshire’s thousands of hospital employees have shown throughout the pandemic.”
More about the 2021 Distinguished Industry Event: For decades, the DWC has held an annual “Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner” or DCAD to honor an individual, and in more recent years a corporate citizen in addition, who has exemplified service and commitment to New Hampshire. This year’s virtual event will be the first to recognize an entire industry.
The event will be held on Thursday, December 2nd at 7pm. There is no charge for registration, but sponsorships and appreciation gift boxes are available for sale to support the DWC’s non-profit mission. Sponsorship and event information can be found at: www.nhscouting.org/special-events.
